Homeschooling has come a long way in the last century, partially due to innovative teachers like Charlotte Mason who dedicated a life time to developing a new philosophy for teaching children. There are many different ways to homeschool your child, but the Charlotte Mason method remains one of the most popular methods. If you’re considering homeschooling your children, you should research the different methods of homeschooling so that you can make an informed decision when you decide which method best suits your family. This article will present some of the highlights of the Charlotte Method way of homeschooling.

Charlotte Mason was a passionate and innovative homeschooling mother who founded the homeschooling movement in the early 1900’s (1842-1923). She invested her life in the pursuit of improving the quality of children’s education. Her enthusiasm and commitment to homeschooling led her to lay the foundations for an effective, complete and adaptable homeschooling program that provided children with a comprehensive education while keeping it interesting. The Charlotte Mason method focuses on core subjects and places an emphasis on literature, classical music, and fine arts. Many homeschooling parents today are using her approach to teach their kids.

One of the corner stones of the Charlotte Mason method is the use of what she calls “living books.” These types of books are to replace dry factual textbooks that school children often dread. A “living book” must be authored by someone not only knowledgeable but passionate about a subject. The author’s enthusiasm must shine through the language of the text. Mason believes this enthusiasm would then be mirrored by the students. “Living books” must also be written in conversational or narrative style. Mason looks down upon “twaddle” which she defines as books that are dumbed down for children. These types of books, she argues, not only insult a child’s intelligence but put out any passion the child may have felt for the subject.

When it comes to reading, Mason believes that children must not only read a wide variety of literature but also learn to narrate what they have read in their own words. Children may narrate orally, in written form or even express the ideas they have read through art projects or drawings. This type of post reading narration ensures comprehension and digestion of the large amounts of information children are exposed to. Mason states that younger children may begin with drawings and oral narration but by the age of ten children should be able to incorporate some written narration into the program.

Charlotte Mason believes that children should spend a large amount of time outdoors to help them develop a relationship with nature and a love for the environement. After observing nature, children should write in nature diaries everything they perceive about nature. Nature dairies can also be used to draw pictures of or write poetry about nature. One of the objectives of this nature study is to lead the way for meaningful instruction of scientific subjects. Homeschooling parents who want to implement some of the Charlotte Mason philosophy, should get their children started on nature dairies and ensure that their children get plenty of opportunities to spend time outdoors and develop a love and appreciation for nature.

Children educated the Charlotte Mason way must not only develop literary, scientific and mathematical skills, but also excel in building good character and discipline. Mason was a firm believer that children must learn to govern themselves and develop a sense of inner discipline. Parents and teachers play an important role here, for they must guide children towards the development of good habits. Some of habits Mason encourages parents and teachers to nurture in children are: respect, patience, cleanliness and timeliness. Mason stated that it often takes four to six weeks for one of these skills to solidify as a habit. Parents who want to incorporate The Charlotte Mason method into their homeschooling program should try to implement as many of these practices as they can.

We all know that educators feel very strongly that for a child to receive a quality education is the single most important aspect to their lives. More and more parents are beginning to take an active role in assisting in the education of their children. Many individuals, apart from licensed educators are starting to recognize an education of a child is crucial. This is why home schooling has become a popular educational choice!

Today, more than ever before, parents are starting to know and understand the importance of a solid education with active participants from the family. Here, I will express the benefits of educating children at home as the parent of two children that are home schooled.

One of the benefits to educating the child at home is that each member of the family can create stronger relationships with one another. In many instances of families that elect to implement the use of traditional schools, you will quickly find that the bond among these individuals is weaker then those that use a home school approach. The main reason for this is that the home school family must put the education of the children in the home as top priority, before everything else. The entire focus is actually centered around the education that the child receives.

When a family home schools their child, the personal growth of the child is brought into light. This is where the bar on education is raised and individuals really get motivated about educating their child. Education, team work, and family ethics suddenly develop into very important aspects of the child’s life. Education is personalized, and this can be extremely beneficial to the child that is being educated.

The next benefit to providing a home school education to your child is that you can take their individual beliefs, learning styles, personalities, and more and turn it into a customized learning plan that can be really beneficial to that child. You have the choice to teach the lessons as you want and apply the plans that are best for that particular child. Just as long as you stick to the educational guidelines that are put in place by your state, you have as much flexibility as you want and/or need.

If you want to teach poetry by singing it, you can! If you want to teach math lessons by performing a puppet show, you can do this too! If you have certain family beliefs, or religious faith, you can even incorporate these lessons into the classroom at home! Many parents and most all children love this flexibility and luxury!

Many children are locked in the same classroom day after day, studying the same books, and not receiving the personalized attention that they need to succeed. However, if you elect to home school your child, they can enjoy a lot of flexibility in where they study, where they receive instruction, as well as how they learn in general. This is a major benefit of providing your children with a home school education!

Many parents enjoy the home school approach to education because of the fact that they can consistently change the pace, the setting, and the way that they teach. Children can learn in ways that are most appropriate to them and the unique needs that they have.

Home schooling is a wonderful way for parents to take an active role in the education of their child. Many parents have come to cherish this wonderful opportunity. There are many different resources that can be used in the home to assist in educational development. These resources include that of internet media, computer technology, television, science experiments, and more. This is an extremely flexible approach to stimulating the senses and minds of our children.

It is real easy to learn about home schooling. You will just need to check out the opportunities that are available in your state. If you want to personalize and customize your child’s educational program, and want to take an active role in it, this is an excellent means to do so!

First off what does a registered nurse do? Like most careers, it depends on what type of job the RN is doing, as there are many options available. Generally when most people think about RNs they see them directly working with patients such as in a hospital or doctors office.

Advancement to supervisor is common for many RNs during their career. This path is not for everyone though as many people do not enjoy managing others and those types of registered nurses are usually happier working directly with patients.

A significant number of registered nurses work at hospitals in one of several different departments. Many people may think of the emergency room or the maternity ward but there are many other specialized departments such as pediatrics.

Retirement homes and communities also need nurses on staff. These fields as well as all nurses fields are growing as the population ages. In addition to patient care in these fields there are also opportunities in management roles.

Traveling to a patients home is common as well in a role called a home health nurse. They may go to someones house to help who is recovering from surgery or other illnesses.

Other places registered nurses work include the government and private organizations. These entities may hire nurses for public health work. Other nurses may work for companies in certain industries at the place of employment to provide emergency assistance and to give exams to employees.

Training new nurse professionals is part of what a nurse supervisor does. They also plan and setup work schedules for their staff.

Many registered nurses wish to advance their career but not in a management role as they may enjoy working with patients more closely as opposed to managing staff. These nurses may consider becoming a nurse practitioner or becoming a specialist such as a clinical nurse specialist.
