Sooner or later it had to happen, right? Your best bud would get married leaving you cruising in the single lane on your own. You played that scenario in your mind a few times before.
At the same time he asked you to be his best man, which includes making a wedding toast at the reception for about 375 people. Public speaking is your worst nightmare, but you can’t let your buddy down so you said you’d do the job.
You feel honored to be asked but also so far out of your comfort zone that you can’t even picture your old security blankie! But you’re a take-charge kind of guy who always steps up to the mark. Where do you start when making a wedding toast?
Learn from these suggestions on how to make an excellent wedding toast.
* It’s important to get started early when planning, writing, practicing delivery and everything else involved in making a wedding speech. Don’t be tempted to “play it by ear”. Trust me, the results wouldn’t be pretty. Hit the books for research and the web for tips too.
* Harness those jitters. The noise of knocking knees is only slightly different from the sound of applause, after all. Work with your fear to help it make your wedding speech the best ever.
* Write, edit, relax and don’t look at the wedding toast for a few days. Then repeat the process as often as necessary until you just know you have done the best job you can. Look at this as a journey and try to enjoy the whole thing, otherwise it will just seem like a chore that you want to get out of the way.
* A touch of humor is great in a wedding toast but it only works if it is gentle humor. There is no room in a wedding speech for sarcasm, spicy tidbits, gross jokes, too-personal stories, in-jokes or bad language.
* Share how you met the groom, how long you have known each other and one or two of your exploits. Talk about when he introduced you to his bride, how beautiful and talented and perfect for him she is and how you believe their marriage is bound to be wonderful. Make your wedding toast remarks tasteful and sincere.
* Be brief. Three to five minutes is long enough for a wedding toast.
* Practice makes perfect. Practice your wedding toast in front of a full-length mirror and time it, allowing moments for audience response.
* Testing, one, two. If at all possible, find a few minutes before the reception starts to stand at the mike where you will be giving your wedding speech. Get a feel for the room from this point of view. Practice delivering to the audience, using eye contact with a few friendly faces or if looking directly at people makes you nervous, aim slightly over their heads.
* Raise a glass. This is the actual toast of the wedding toast. Make eye contact with the bride and groom when you toast them. Lift your arm from the shoulder, toast with a full glass. This takes place at the very end of your wedding speech.
* Walk to the bride and groom. Embrace the groom and the bride and go back to your seat. You’re finished with the wedding toast. Wasn’t that a great experience?

Today there are more working adults enrolled in college degree programs than ever before.
The reasons are fairly straightforward. First, the wide availability of online education makes it possible for adults to pursue a degree online without interrupting their careers.
Next, it is now easier than ever for adults to qualify for financial aid, especially for online education. Twenty years ago, almost no aid was available to students enrolled in online degree programs or distance education.
The fact that employers are far more willing than ever to hire and/or promote professionals who have earned one or more degrees online has brought hundreds of thousands of adults to the world of online education.
Another big change in the higher education world that has contributed to the surge in adults furthering their education is the increased awarding of college course credit for life experience. The fact that credit for life experience reduces students’ costs and the time it takes them to complete a degree provides a major incentive to many.
Of course, with more and more universities offering late afternoon, evening, and weekend classes, not all working adults are studying online. Many are returning to campuses throughout the United States.
All the afforementioned factors have helped lead to unparalleled growth in on-campus and online adult education. The single most important reason for the record number of adults now seeking a college or undergraduate degree, however, is the increased realization by working adults that continuing their educations will substantially improve their career options and earning potential.
Whatever your reason(s) for considering a return to school, be aware that you are living in a world where there are far more good educational options available to adults than ever before.

There are many people offering babysitter services. It is therefore impossible for you not to find a good sitter. The good services of your sitter however, depend to some extent on how you communicate with your sitter and how you treat her. Here are some good points to remember when dealing with your sitter.
Settle the Rate
Agree on is the sitter’s rate. The rate will depend on a couple of factors. These include age of the sitter, number of kids to watch over, ages of the kids, amount of work to be done, hours of work and experience of the sitter. Unfortunately, there is no set rule for coming up with a permanent sitter rate. What you have to do then is to carefully talk to your sitter about an agreeable rate considering various factors. These days, it is usually quite unacceptable to pay a sitter below $3. You would have to pay over that depending on what you agree on.
Set Rules for Dealing with Kids
If you want your sitter to be effective, you have to tell her what you want. You have to be very clear and specific with your instructions. Tell her what you allow your kids to eat or to watch on T.V. Give instructions on what to do when your child misbehaves or refuses to follow instructions.
If schedules have to be followed, then be sure to tell her about that. This may include schedules for naptime, sleep time, classes and snacks. If there are any special concerns such as a toddler that is prone to tantrums, then be sure to tell your sitter in advance.
Set Rules for the Sitter
There should be rules for your sitter to follow as well. Your babysitter service provider should also know if you have rules for her to follow. It is only natural for you to set some guidelines since she will be staying in your house. At the same time though, you should be prepared not to be too strict with your sitter. It would be very unreasonable for example not to allow your sitter to use any of your things in your living room or kitchen. The guidelines you should set may have something to do with the length of personal calls, sleeping on duty and having personal visitors while on duty.
Always Ask Questions
Have a brief chat with your sitter when you get home. Ask her how things went and if she enjoyed being with your kids. This would also be a good time to address specific concerns. Your sitter for example may have had a particularly difficult time with handling one of your kids. Ask her how she dealt with the situation and make sure to praise her if she did a good job at handling it.
Be Generous
Food and Drinks - Never forget to leave your sitter something to eat or drink. This is a basic courtesy. Even if you are paying her, it would be a sign of generosity on your part to offer her something extra. This is an especially good idea if she hasn’t eaten her meal yet. Being extra kind and generous on your sitter would make her feel that only the best kind of service is expected from her.

Orlando, located in central Florida, is best known as the home of Disney World. Like much of the rest of Florida, Orlando is a popular tourist destination, except people come more for the theme parks than the beaches. Its famed theme parks include Sea World, Universal Studios and of course Disney World. With one of the nation’s largest conference centers and numerous golf courses, Orlando is a popular host for business conferences and golf retreats.
Historically, Orlando was grounds for the Seminole Wars between the Americans and the Native American tribe Seminole. In 1838, the US army built Fort Gatlin outside the city to protect against attacks from Indians.
A community formed around the Fort and the area was initially named Jernigan, after the Jernigan family who established the first permanent inhabitants of the area by building a post office. The earliest settlers earned their living by cattle ranching, but Orlando didn’t truly become habited until after the Seminole wars. The city gets its name from a soldier and plantation owner named Orlando Reeves.
The place where settlers saw that he marked his named on a tree (and arguably was laid to rest) is the area we now know as Orlando. The town was finally incorporated in 1875, at which point there were only 85 residents. The city began making its money from cotton, citrus and cattle. Cattle ranches grew across Florida to meet Cuban demand for beef. After this as cotton became the new hot commodity, Orlando thrived with cotton plantations. Most of the workers eventually moved to the south, and a hurricane in 1871 destroyed most of the remaining plantations.
The tropical and warm weather of Florida proved to be perfect for citrus crops as well, and as a result, Orlando greatly benefited from it. From there, Orlando continued its growth and when Walt Disney decided to erect his first Disney theme park outside of California in Orlando, the city never looked back since.

Conservation is a wide open field encompassing a wide range of fields, including geography, geology, hydrology, economic, and business. Successful students of the field must have a solid comprehension of water and soil conservation, modern forestry methods, wildlife management, the effects and composition of pesticides, and even waste management. This isn’t a field for the faint of heart - most graduates can testify to the essential “messiness” of working in the elements. It’s less of a major and more of a multi-disciplined, multi-leveled way of life.
There is not one definable factor at play in conservation and ecology - like the weather, the panoply of forces at work serve only to obscure the root causes. Often, conservationists spend a great deal of time outdoors, in the wild, observing and logging the conditions of wildlife refuges, wetlands, even reservoirs. The less wild, yet precarious, corporate world is a pronounced employer of conservation and ecology graduates, using their eco-expertise to raise awareness of environmental issues, especially as it relates to the corporation’s compliance to EPA standards.
There is a tremendous range of careers a conservation and ecology graduate can qualify for, including work as a park ranger, wildlife biology assistant, nature specialist, conservation educator, marine life aquarium worker, horticultural aide, environmental lobbyist, grass roots organizer, zoological specialist, and more. It is a terribly popular field of study for students interested in entering the park service. Working for the park service includes clearing park trails, monitoring the pollution levels of soil and water samples, and studying the impact of campers. Conservation and ecology graduates in the park service are also responsible for sorting tree seedlings, ensuring they meet the standards for root formation, stem development, and healthy foliage.
Most ecological curriculums are tailored to address the balance that must be struck between maintaining and preserving the national forests and the logging needs of the commercial paper and logging industry. This balance haunts many conservational and ecological movements; the needs of a hungry market cannot be ignored. Though controversial, most academies and universities encourage ecologically based majors to explore business coursework. The nation’s natural abundance cannot be squandered, nor can it be left untouched.
The importance of this field of study cannot be diminished. It represents the unavoidable intersection of commerce and conservation, between what is necessary and what must be preserved. Today’s conservation and ecology graduates will be tomorrow’s eco-warriors.

Are you tired of constantly taking notes and still not remembering everything your teacher says? If so, you’ll be happy to know we’ve put together some informative techniques for you to utilize. Once you start using these methods, remembering will become much easier for those difficult tests ahead. Ready?
Use Coloured Pens and Pencils
Look through some of your notes. You may see one thing in common on every page - the color. It can be really hard to find what you’re looking for when all your notes look so similar. This might be why you squint at your notes for ages and still can’t find what you’re looking for. That’s why you should use colored pencils and pens to take notes. When you do this on a regular basis, your notes will be much easier to scan for specific information.
The majority of people have an easier time locating, learning and recalling information when they have visual cues. Using varied colors in your notes gives you a visual cue which can help you remember or at least find important facts in your notes. Experiment with these - some people find some colors more helpful than others. Different colors for different kinds of notes can also be useful.
As for myself, I write most of my text down in black with highlights in other colors. When corrections are necessary, I like to use RED since it stands out the best.
Underline and ACCENTUATE Key Points
When you take notes it is vital to underline or otherwise draw attention to important items. Underlining, circling, drawing boxes or arrows all work to draw the eye toward especially important facts in your notes. Just don’t overuse these or it will be hard to tell what’s important and what’s not.
Draw Figures, Charts, and Graphs
Sometimes things just can’t be communicated clearly using only words. Relationships, timelines, causality and exchanges are difficult to explain in writing. However, they are easy to illustrate even for the artistically challenged like me! These diagrams should include colours and other graphical representations such as bullets, arrows, shading and text of different colours.
Use Large Paper
Large paper just seems to work better for some reason. You can buy paper in boxes of 5,000 continuous sheets for a little under $30. This can last for years and works great for large diagrams since they can be folded easily. Consider purchasing some of this paper for your note taking.
With these large sheets, you can get all the important topics from a day’s lectures onto a single sheet, or divide each page by subject or concept. Depending on the course, one or the other may work better for you.
As an example, not long ago I took a course where I placed my notes for each lecture on a single page. This allowed me to condense my notes for 17 chapters of textbooks and 30 articles into a dozen or so pages. It’s a lot simpler to read through a dozen pages than a thousand. This cuts down many hours of pre-test revision to less than one.
Making these pages of notes can even be fun. When you do it this way, you can almost feel it sticking in your mind. Try it for yourself - you’ll see your confidence in classes increase rapidly. If you follow the ideas laid out in this article, you’ll find your academic success on the rise.

A college diploma is an official certificate that verifies that the recipient or the student has passed all the necessary requirements for the tertiary level of education. A college diploma is generally awarded for an undergraduate course that is usually taken for 4 to 5 years.
A college diploma generally includes the name of the college or university that the student attended, the name of the diploma’s recipient, and the course or degree that he or she completed. Academic awards like Magna Cum Laude, Cum Laude, and Summa Cum Laude are also indicated in the diploma for those students who graduated a course or degree with honors.
A college diploma also stands as an academic award. Additionally, college diploma generally varies from country to country. In countries like Canada, diplomas are given by colleges while a university awards a bachelor’s degree. In other countries such as Australia, a diploma refers to a lower rank than that of a bachelor degree. In United Kingdom, having a certificate of higher education would mean that the student has successfully completed 120 CATS Point which is also equivalent to one year of university education. A Diploma of Higher Education would mean a 240 credit point.
Apart from being an official document, a college diploma has become a symbol of discipline and success. A college diploma is usually the ultimate goal of any student as this piece of paper represents all the years of their hardships as a student and at the same time it becomes their passport towards the real workaday world. Parents also consider their children’s college diploma as a valuable possession as it symbolizes that all their hard work has finally paid off.
Many employers, especially top companies, asks for the college diploma as one of their requirements for any applicant who wishes to enter their company. Most careers in the corporate world entail a college degree as part of their qualifications.

Roping together those few initial clients when starting up a business is no easy task. As a business grows, though, attracting new clients becomes progressively less difficult. However, staying in touch with clients you already have by regularly communicating is substantially easier than trying to hunt down new ones.
Life requires communication and that definitely applies to the business world as well. If you don’t keep in regular contact with clients, you will not be able to forge the strong, long-term business relationships that are essential to success.
When you are working with a client, it is best to keep communication open, as a way to keep them informed. This is especially true if you haven’t worked together before or if you are working on an extensive project. The client can’t see you and doesn’t know the status of the project unless you let them know what is going on. Keeping them informed of your progress will ease any worries they have.
When any sort of miscommunication comes up, consistently contacting you client will help to clear things up quickly, without allowing the misunderstanding to affect your business in any sort of negative way. For example, what if you and your client confuse a deadline? Suppose you thought it had been set for the 18th, but your client was expecting delivery on the 8th. No doubt your client would be quite upset. Staying in close contact, however, will help you keep such problems from ever arising in the first place.
Emailing clients you’ve worked with in the past can be a good way to find new work. All you have to do is take some initiative and ask how they are and if they would like to avail themselves of your services again. Since your clients are busy people, it is easy for them to forget to get in touch with you. Therefore, it is vital that you work at maintaining communication.
Keeping your name in front of your past clients can also help you achieve positive word of mouth advertising. Word-of-mouth advertising happens when a past or current client is talking to someone in need of the products or services you offer, and they refer you and your business. By staying in touch with your customers, you increase the odds of them remembering your name in upcoming conversations.
Emails and newsletters are a viable way to communicate with clients. Calling each and every client on the phone is certainly not necessary. Sending out a newsletter can also remind past clientele of past products or services they have purchased from you and promote new ones they could be interested in.
Making a newsletter to be sent to clients each month will not require a lot of time. You can hire a virtual assistant to do it for you if you prefer. Emailing a newsletter will keep your past clients informed about new sales or specials you are offering and will remind them on a monthly basis of your products and services.

What are GREEN products? Why are they better? How do they work? What is a micro-fiber cloth? Why would I use one?
The popular trend or rage these days is all about Green cleaning. We all want to do our part to protect the earth and environment. At the same time we want to choose products that are safe for ourselves, our familys and our pets. With many products making claims about being green how do we know what a truely green product is. Once purchased, how do we use it.
First you have to take a look at the product itself. Learn how to understand the label. Does the product have a governmental approval, or is it just the product manufacturer telling you how wonderful it is? You also want to use the proper uses of the product. Does it require special attention in some way? How is the product maintained, and is it something that you could recycle?
WorldWide Oxide, a Minneapolis based company, is one firm that is helping its customers deal with these questions. It has partnered with the Illinois based Green Clean Institute to offer Green Clean Certification training classes. These courses are designed to educate the end line user on the procedures and use involved in GREEN products.
Everyone from the typical homemaker to the person that cleans for a living find these courses interesting and applicable. There are courses on mold and mildes, supervisor courses, and building maintainence courses.
Students will learn what type of green cleaners to use, and why they are using them. They will be learn to be able to distinguish between a good quality item and a lesser quality item. Students will learn about Micro-Fiber cloths and how to choose the correct type of cloth.
These courses are all reasonably priced and designed to be consumer friendly. Knowledge is king, and with it you can create for yourself a better life. We have all used chemicals for many years that are not good for us. We know better now. It’s time to educate ourselves on proper product usage, both in the home and workplace.
