The cab ride to the Giza plateay which is ten miles from down town Cairo is a perilous journey to say the least. Neverthelss, a ten mile square of 5000 year old monolithic artifacts dominate the site. For thousands of years untold millions have made the 130 foot climb to visit the 8th wonder of the world.
The Pyramid’s base covers 13 acres, or 7 midtown blocks of the city of New York. Form this Broad area, leveled to with in a fraction of an inch, more than two-and-a-half million blocks of limestone and granite–weighing from 2 to 70 tons apiece–rise in 201 stepped tiers toward the Egyptian skies
In terms of solid masonry, the structure contains more stone than all cathedrals, churches, and chapels built in England since the time of Christ; as a feat in masonry it was not to be matched till the construction of the Boulder Dam.
Both the enormity and the astounding precision involved in the design and construction of the Great Pyramid astonishes modern engineers today. Not only was there the difficulty in assembling into place of the inner core blocks but the Great Pyramid was coated with a dazzling finish of white limestone casing blocks.
What the Great Pyramid looked like when it was completed, or even for the first one or two millennium thereafter, is not recorded in history. No description of the Pyramid has survived in the Egyptian texts.

There has been much research on the linkage between cognition and speed reading by a variety of professionals such as educational psychologists, teachers and cognitive science researchers. Recently a study undertaken by researchers from the University of Aberdeen was published in an academic journal, which appears to prove that comprehension is proportionally linked to the course reading speed. This has finally provided statistical data to back up something that researchers have long believed to be true.
Our parents always encouraged us to excel at academics and be the top of the class. They were correct in their beliefs that enhanced reading speed would lead to increased test scores as well as a better education. Researchers have concluded from a study that interviewed over 9,000 students, parents, and educational professionals, that those who exhibited an improved course reading speed had greater retention of material and concepts as well as finding more time to revise their learning skills.
The researchers, however, are not fully pleased with the outcome of this study. The head researcher stated that the scientists needed to further explore to discover the exact way in which reading speed and comprehension of educational materials are linked.
It is assumed by cognitive scientists that there is a critical threshold reading speed, past which understanding is greater than the national average. They refer to this as the breakthrough reading speed and further research into the definition of that threshold limit is vital if we desire to learn more about the relationship.
A person’s reading speed is greatly influenced by how much the person was read to as a child and how many books were available for the child to read. The child’s reading speed will be higher once he or she begins school. Reading speeds really don’t change much as the person gets older.
According to the study, when children with special cognitive needs receive remedial help and support from teachers, it helps them improve skills such as converting information into knowledge they can act on. At the same time, it is crucial that equal attention be placed on increasing their reading speed to bring it close to the threshold limit.
Recently a study undertaken by researchers was published in an academic journal, which appears to prove that comprehension is proportionally linked to the course reading speed. One area that scientists are considering for future search is exploring “breakthrough reading speed.” Scientists believe that humans have a “critical threshold” reading speed; beyond this threshold, cognition is greater than the nation’s average. For scientists to uncover just how cognition and class reading speed are related, they must discover this threshold. The study claims that support from teachers and remedial teaching for kids with special cognitive needs can increase the chance of retaining information, converting data into actionable knowledge and so forth.

The popularity of high speed internet is undeniable. It seems every member of the household is logging in and zooming down the information highway. But do we really understand why we have to have it?
Cable, DSL, and Fiber Optic providers are selling speed, convenience, and affordability in Triple Service Packages, that include your television, phone, and internet services at rock bottom prices. Or so they seem. The lure of superfast, supercheap internet connectivity for only $10 a month draws users like moths to the flame, that is until the flame is snuffed out only a few months down the road. When consumers make quick decisions without understanding the agreements, the consumer loses.
So after your $9.99 service goes up to $29.99 six months later, and then you add the taxes, surcharges, and other fees, you begin to realize that ?being connected? isn?t that affordable anymore.
So, why not just jump ship and cancel your service? Easier said than done. Providers often hide the ball, and when you attempt to cancel service, they inform you of the two year contract you entered into for those promotional rates. So, not only are you tied in, but you if want to break the contract, there is a penalty, and more of your money in their bank accounts.
Now consider that a large number of users don?t even utilize their broadband connections on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis and these companies are greatly increasing their profit margins! In fact some commercials poke fun at consumers calling them ignorant.
What’s the fix? Education. By reading the fine print of the agreeements you enter into, prioritizing your needs, and understanding what you can do to fix a problem or get out of the contract are key to your consumer satisfaction. As time is money, time educating yourself to the terms of a contract saves money and frustration.
So, are promotional rates off limits? Absolutely not! Finding a provider that offers promotional rates without a long term contract is a great money saving tactic. Once the promo period has ended, you then also have the freedom to either stick it out with this provider or move on to the next.
At the end of the day you need to watch after your own pocket book and it is our responsibility to be the watchdogs over these high speed broadband providers. We need to find ways of providing affordable high speed for the entire US and start competing with the rest of the world that offer 5 times the speed at a tenth of the price.

Tarot card decks consist of 78 cards and the cards have two grouping. The first group is called the ‘Major Arcana’ and the second the ‘Minor Arcana’. Each group differs in appearance as well as the role they play in a Tarot card reading.
The minor arcana is used to show the everyday events that take place. When the major arcana cards come into play, it is important that the person takes note of what they are saying. These cards show the major choices and paths in the persons life.
The design of the Tarot deck is intrigue and visually appealing, especially that of the Major Arcana cards. These cards are very distinctive and colorful and they need to be considering the importance of them during a Tarot a reading and this importance will not be overlooked by a good Tarot reader.
The cards of the Major Arcana total twenty two and start from the ‘Fool’ card (zero) to the ‘World’ card (21). The fool represents beginning’s while the world represents endings. The cards in between show various other aspects of a persons life such as, challenges, lessons and the like.
Take notice when one of the Major Arcana cards shows up as the cards is telling you of something important in you’re life. It can relate to anything be it good or bad but the fact it has shown up means you should focus on this aspect. there may be a big decision that nees to be made or a situation to be addressed so that you can move forward.
The Minor Arcana has the remaining fifty six cards and these cars relate to a persons life on a day by day basis and are of a lessor importance than those of the Major Arcana. These every day situations can be altered by a person. The Tarot card reader will explain how this is done.
There are also four groups within the Minor Arcana and it is not unusual for these groups tot change their symbols during a reading to allow the Tarot reader to get a better grasp of the meaning. Simply put the four groups are: ‘Cups’ that are a sign of conflict. Swords that relate to relationships. ‘Pentangles’ that symbolize money. And ‘Wands’ that relate to ideas.
In most readings both types of cards will come up. The major arcana cards are the destiny cards that are unable to be changed, for the most part. The minor arcana cards are the cards that can be changed as the decisions of a person are changed and modified. The major arcana cards are not to be taken lightly. If they suggest something, keep it in mind.

“Mom, I’m bored. There’s nothing to do!” I’m sure you never hear that in your house, right?
Ever heard of the book by Peter Spier, Bored, Nothing To Do? It tells us about two brothers who are so bored that their mother brings them outside to spend the afternoon.. While in the garage, they build a plane and fly it. Haven’t read the book yet? Then go grab a copy a your local library. It doesn’t matter if your 8, 18, 38, you’ll still enjoy it. That means I’m going to read it again!
The airplane “project” results from boredom. There are two solutions to your kids’ boredom I want to share with you. I think both have positive outcomes for your children this summer and hope you will share these with your friends & family.
Last fall I read an article by our local librarian. She made the point that boredom in children produces creativity. Think about it. When your children are bored, they often find something to do on their own. It takes creativity to imagine and invent your own “project”. Remember the 2 brothers in Spier’s book. They were bored and definitely used their creativity to build & fly an airplane.
With this in mind, you need to provide stimulating resources for your children. Resources can be as simple as the sticks in the backyard or more involved like craft baskets or lego boxes. When they are bored, they can use those resources as they spark their own imagination to overcome boredom. Usually, kids will find something to do because they don’t want to be bored.
If you let them overcome boredom on their own and allow them to come up with creative ideas, this allows you see what .
The second solution is to show your kids where these items are when they don’t have anything else to do. If they continually sit in front of the TV, show them the huge box of Legos. When you see your daughter watching movie after movie, remind her where the art supplies are. Pretty simple, isn’t it?
I realize busy moms don’t always have time to remember suggestions for your kids to encourage creativity. Here’s a list I share every summer with my subscribers. Not only do I share it with my subscribers, I read it myself and choose a few I’d like to do with my own children. www.curriculumconnection.net/blog/2007/06/26/bored-nothing-to-do-this-summer/
Now, you can print it and put it up on the refrigerator door. Send your child to the frig when they are bored. Have them choose a number between 1 and 206. Look up that activity and get started having summer fun. On a final note, this particular list was sent to me a couple of years ago and I don’t remember who gave it to me.

Start your research right here! If you want to know who has the best cell phone deals and cell phone plans or who offers the best coverage and reception services then you are in the right place. The Internet is making it easier than ever to compare cell phones and cell phones plans right from your home. Get a free cell phone or replace your old cell phone by finding the right offer today.
Many of the new cell phone models even have cool features like a built in camera, Bluetooth, MP3, PDA, voice activated calling, two way communication via walkie talkie style messaging from Nextel or Sprint PCS, pager mode, internet access, sms messages, speaker phone, and many other cool features included for the modern cell phone user. If you are looking for the hottest online cell phones and the top cellular providers with the best discount services, then look for the Apple iPhone, Palm, Razr and Smartphone PDAs like the Treo and Blackberry.
When choosing a new cell phone or pre-owned cell phone, it is important that your cell phone has the features that are right for you. There are many styles of cell phones including basic flip and bar style cell phones, smartphones and PDAs, camera and video phones, GPS, and MP3 phones. Choosing the right cell phone brand is also important and the most popular include Audiovox, Hitachi, RIM, Apple, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Palm, Firefly, Panasonic, LG, Sanyo, Samsung and Kyocera. Many free cell phone offers include free shipping but calling plans that include free long distance, free roaming, free night and weekends minutes will probably save you more money over the life of your contract. Other standard calling features that are usually free include voice mail, caller ID, 3 way cenferencing and call waiting.
Remember, there is no such thing as the tooth fairy, a free lunch, Santa Claus or a “free” cell phone. You’ll either pay for the cell phone when you sign up for service, or later through your monthly service fees. But getting your cellular service started with little or no money is a huge benefit and cost savings. When you shop, determine your cellular phone needs, gather information about the type of cell phone and calling plan that is right for you and then find the best deal. Usually the best deals are always found online and not in any retail store or mall kiosk. Those dealers have huge overhead to pay for and need to pass those costs on to the buyer. Shopping online means having to wait a couple of days for a phone to arrive in the mail but the savings can be substantial.
The technology used by cell phone providers varies and will have a lot to do with your cellphones call quality. Some cellular providers use digital and analog networks and other cellular telephone companies use the PCS network. The coverage areas of your wireless mobile phone will depend on a few different factors including your calling plan which may include roaming within your local region or nationwide coverage depending on the rate plan you choose. No matter what digital cell phone you choose there is a low cost, no credit card required, or pre-paid cell phone solution that will work for anyone. Many free cell phones are available with no credit card or credit check and come with accessory kits that include a home charger, car charger, leather case, and earphone hands free headset. This will vary by cell phone offers. The accessories can be a life saver when you need a wireless cell phone for business or for emergencies.
GSM (Global System for Mobile) is the international standard in Europe, Australia and much of Asia and Africa. CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is mainly found in the US. In covered areas, cell-phone users can buy one phone that will work anywhere where the standard is supported. However, no one phone hand set will work everywhere. So even if your cell phone plan includes free roaming, your phone will not work unless you are roaming in an area that uses similar network archtecture. Both networks have their advantages and disadvantages with GSM giving you the freedom of massive worldwide coverage and CDMA giving you plans with high speed digital access.
Prepaid plans for cell phones, also known as “pay as you go” plans, allow you to buy your minutes as you use them. With a prepaid cell phone you have control over how much you spend each month, without having to worry about getting hit with overage charges from your cell phone company. Prepaid phones and plans are also great for those without enough good credit to qualify for a wireless contract — or individuals who just don’t need all the minutes offered by a standard cell phone plan. However, there are also drawbacks to using a pre-paid plans. The minutes are much more expensive than they are with regular monthly plans for one thing. Another problem is that the minutes are only good for a specific period of time and usually expire after 60-90 days. But if your credit is less than perfect, a pre-paid phone may be just the answer for you especially if you can’t afford to pay the hefty deposit that the regular monthly service will probably require.
See a hot new cell phone that you just have to get? Want to add another line of service? If you have completed your original service contract then it may be time to contact your carrier and see what kind of deals they’ll make on a new cell phone or contract. And if another carrier has a better deal, make sure that you let your service provider know about it. If they don’t match the offer, then ask to speak with a supervisor and threaten to leave. It’s costs the cell phone companies upwards of $150 to secure a new customer so the last thing they want to do is lose you to a competitor. In the cell phone industry this is known as “customer churn” and the cell phone carriers will do almost most anything to prevent this.

If you think about it a list of medical careers in health and medical are very similar as they both want the same thing that is to care for the welfare of the patient. To give some idea, here are a few possible careers that you may get into.
1. Brushing your teeth is not enough to keep them clean. That’s why people are told to visit the DENTIST at least once a year, or every six months. This profession is usually completed after 8 years of education. It takes just as long as a medical doctor and analysts believe this demand will grow as a large number are expected to retire soon.
The job of the dentist is to diagnose, prevent and treat problems in the teeth and also the mouth tissue. They may perform x-rays, put in protective plastic sealants, extract or repair fractured teeth. If patients need to straighten their teeth, then they have to visit an orthodontist.
Dentists use a variety of equipment to get the job done. These include mouth mirrors, probes, forceps, brushes, scalpels, drills and x-ray machines. To protect themselves and their patients, they must always sterilize their equipment; wear masks, gloves that must be disposed afterwards and protective glasses.
2. For those that want to get into the heat of the action, they may work as surgeons. This is very hard as most doctors work more than 60 hours weekly inside the operating room. Aside from general surgery, there are a lot of Doctors who specialize in a specific area.
Examples of a certain list of medical careers may include orthodontic surgery that is the treatment of the skeletal system. Then there is neurological that is involved with the the brain. Orthopedic that involves the eyes and Otolaryngology that is treatment of the ear, nose and throat as well as plastic or reconstructive surgery for those are recovering from burn injuries, or want to change their physical appearance.
3. Some people want to become a respiratory therapist. This person is expected to evaluate, treat and care for the patients that have difficulty breathing or may be suffering from cardiopulmonary disorders. They work under the direct supervision of the physician. To evaluate a patient, and an interview is first done before a physical examination. Tests are then done to analyze the oxygen, carbon dioxide and pH levels and then comparing them with the age, height, sex and height of the patient if they are below or above normal. The results are then used to make the proper treatment decisions.
They not only treat seniors, but also premature babies that have not yet produced fully developed lungs. They may also be called in to help patients that are suffering from asthma, drowning, heart attack, shock and a stroke.
4. One job that is not often seen with health and medical careers, but does play a role is that of a social worker. They help people who have serious illnesses, disabilities and substance abuse. They also assist families who have inadequate housing and those who are in serious domestic conflicts, especially those with child or spousal abuse. If you want to help people, go for a health and medical career, but first make a list of medical careers to choose from.

So you’re planning to open an IRA, i.e. a depository account. This might be a very smart move on your part if you know how to go about making investments with it. By using your IRA to buy and sell assets, you can end up making a lot of money. To those who don’t know how to do this, fret not, we will be covering the uses of IRAs in a later article. For the time being, let this article serve as a basic introduction to the topic, outlining the fundamental points you need to remember when opening an IRA.
First things first, you need to know that all IRA applications will be undertaken in your name. You will have to use your own personal name, while the name of your spouse or any other person will not suffice. Next, you will need to provide your full and exact address along with your social security number. Without this information, your account will not open.
Meanwhile, in some instances, an Employer Identification Number, i.e. EIN, may also be required. You will need to specify the type of account you want because depending on the account-type, you may be required to present additional information. For instance, if you plan to open an SEP IRA, you will be required to submit the name of your employer on the contribution agreement. Additionally, you may also want to consider appointing a beneficiary. Although designation is not mandatory when you open the account, it is nonetheless highly advised.
If you’re an employer, or simply self-employed with no other employees, you may be able to become the trustee for your qualified plan. Point to be noted; qualified plans, unlike IRAs, are not subject to mandate with regard to banks and other institutions in fulfilling the role of a trustee or custodian. Hence, with a qualified plan you have free-reign in the sense that you can select as the trustee yourself or another individual. You can also select a group of individuals, i.e. a corporation, or for that matter, you have the option to select a combination of these as well.
However, when founding a qualified plan, remember that you need to go over the investment section of the plan document with great care as it is imperative that you verify that the plan is self-directed. Additionally, you will need to fill out an adoption agreement with respect to your plan document, by inputting information such as the terms for eligibility, vesting, allocations, and so on and so forth.
If you’re an employer, your life becomes a tad easier as you can make use of an IRS-approved prototype or master-plan to establish your qualified plan. Nonetheless, in any case you do have the option of drafting your own plan from scratch. All you need to ensure when writing your plan is that it takes into consideration the IRS Code.
