All you have to do is pay attention to literature, the media, movies, pop culture and the internet to notice that the English language is quickly becoming something of a universal language. Business transactions across borders and over the internet are largely conducted in English. International relations and policy are also commonly carried out in the English language. For these reasons and many others, it is highly beneficial to have at least a somewhat operating knowledge of English. In fact, English is widely taught as a second language in countries all over the world, including but not limited to:

- Asia - Middle East - Europe - Latin America

Is it Too Late?

Students all over the world may be studying English as a second language - whether it is a requirement or not, but what about adults? It is common knowledge that it is much easier to learn a language when one is very young and still developing early language skills. In fact, the very best time to pick up any language is actually before five years of age. Does this mean that it is virtually impossible for anyone over the age of 5 (or 10 for that matter) to learn a new language such as English? The answer is very simple - no. Learning English may be more difficult and unnatural for an adult to learn, but it is definitely not too late. It may require more work, studying and practicing for an adult to truly learn English, but it is by no means impossible.

Factors in Learning

There are many different factors that will influence the level of ease or difficulty each individual will experience when learning English as an adult. Some of these include age, disposition, behavioral attitudes, native language, frequency of practice, etc. Generally speaking, the greater the amount of time that is spent on studying English lessons and practicing English, the quicker and more thoroughly the language will be learned. This is true of any foreign language that is studied - not only by adults, but also by youth and children.

Adults Learning English in the U.S.

There are a great number of immigrants, visitors and students in the United States who wish to learn to speak, read and write English. Below are some things that are known about the adult English language student population.

- Native Tongue

The majority of individuals who speak a language other than English at home speak Spanish (60%). The second most prevalent language is Chinese. The remaining eight of the top 10 languages spoken are (in descending order) French, German, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Italian, Korean, and Polish (U.S. Census Bureau, 2003).

- Level of Education

Adult English learners have a wide variety of educational backgrounds, ranging from no education at all to advanced degrees.

- Ability to Speak English

The English speaking ability of adults learning English will typically range from low beginning, with means the individual has limited opportunities to use English outside of class, to high advanced (near native proficiency). Most English language learners enrolled in adult education programs for English are in beginning literacy or beginning ESL classes.

Conclusion

With so many adult students of the English language (in the United States and all over the world) it is easy to see that learning English as an adult is definitely possible. It is very encouraging to see that no matter what age or station in life one is in, it is never too late to learn even a complicated language such as English.

Individuals who are not able to attend classroom or campus learning find distance learning a very reasonable option. It is also a very good choice for people who like to work independently. There are some students who stay near the campus but choose to go for distance learning.

On the other hand everybody cannot adjust to distance learning. There are some who do much better at classroom teaching and are not made for distance education. It is important to find out if distance learning program is for you. This can be done by checking out some points of online distance learning.

One of the major factors of distance learning is time as you will need the same if not more time compared to conventional classroom learning. It becomes a problem for people learning online to give enough time to the online class. There is not much of a responsibility and it is possible that you don’t get the desired grade in a distance program. Although this may not trouble people who are disciplined and can work with responsibility.

The other common problem with distance learning is for those who need interaction and classroom discussion to function at their best academic levels. While online courses do vary in the amount and type of interaction one can have with classmates, it is generally not as interactive as a classroom. If you are okay working independently and with limited connection to the other students, then you are probably okay with distance learning.

Actually there are two very important points which should be considered when you decide on a distance learning program, as it is not for all. You will have to analyze how disciplined you are and the other thing is your need to meet others to do well in your program. If you can work well independently then possibly you can go for distance learning.

What is video conferencing? Video conferencing is a way that you can communicate by using a mixture of video and voice. You are capable to connect to public in additional buildings, states, countries as if they were sitting right next to you.

In order to conduct a video conference you must have the correct equipment. Each human being must contain a PC, a webcam, a microphone, and a broadband internet connection.

Video conferencing solves a lot of problems that companies once dealt with. Video conferencing can save companies cash. One of the major ways the video conferencing saves a business money is it diminishes the quantity of travel therefore diminishing the amount of time it takes to get resolution to a problem.

Another advantage of video conferencing is that it reduces diminishes “down time”. Instead of spending hours on a plane, you can obtain the business the moment it needs to be completed.

Video conferencing also permits you to stay in contact with those clients that are in other states or countries.

One of the largest benefits of video conferencing is that it advances production. Video conferencing allows a business the ease of sharing information at a quick rate. Being competent to include a video conference permits decisions to be made earlier and therefore products get formed quicker.

Video conferencing is a great thing to have in schools. Using this device lets students actually see what a instructor or other student is performing so they will be acquainted with doing the same thing properly.

There are a few technical things that you want to make sure you confirm before you have a video conference. First you want to make sure that all equipment is plugged in correctly. Then you want to make sure that you have all of the IP addresses correct. Having your external speakers turned up is also extremely important. Without the speakers turned up, you won’t be able to listen to anything.

The most significant thing to do prior to a video conference is make certain that you have someone there or you yourself be familiar with how to make use of the gear.

Interested in an MBA? An MBA, or “Masters of Business Administration” is a master’s degree that can help you master the various aspects of business, and very often will give you an advantage in getting any job search or job promotion. If an MBA interests you, the best thing is to learn what the degree can do for you, and which school is best to meet your objectives.

First off, an MBA degree can really get your career moving ahead, and an online MBA is a great way to do it inexpensively, conveniently, and quickly. It is convenient because you do everything from your home - no classes to attend apart from scheduled online presentations and teleconferences. How each online MBA school presents their material varies from school to school, yet the best ones give an experience that rivals the best class-based MBA program.

One wonderful advantage of an online MBA versus a part-time MBA is the speed in which you can finish. With an online MBA, you can almost always complete the program in 2 years or less, while many part-time MBA programs require 3 years or more to complete the program. Since no one checks how you got your MBA until an interview, your resume will never say anything about the fast convenient way you got your degree.

Before you rush off to sign up to get that MBA online, you should check to make sure your school of choice is accredited, so you can be sure your degree will be acknowledged by employers and the government. If your school lacks accreditation, you will not be able to apply for loans or scholarships. To check if the school is accredited, ask to talk to a representative for the online MBA program, and ask about assistance they offer for loans and bursaries, and a list of credentials the business school has.

The biggest advantage an MBA degree can give you is to give you that sharp focused business mind that lets you cut through the clutter and know where the important information is. This kind of training is valued in all businesses, but especially in:

marketing

accounting and consulting companies

business process re-engineering

When you have an MBA, many employers will view you more seriously, and with greater interest.

An MBA degree will also help improve your income, since the statistics indicate the degree adds an average $12,000-$25,000 onto a graduate’s income. The variance in this income improvement depends on your location and the market you work in.

In summary, the online MBA is the clear winner for convenience and low cost, and if these are important factors in your choice of MBA school, you should seriously consider the online MBA option. One last thing before I go - I should warn you. The MBA graduate often changes so much after they graduate, that they quit or get fired. In fact, over 51% of all MBA graduates experience this change within 2 years of graduation.

Flowmeters have many applications and are used in various industries but they all serve one purpose. They measure the flow rate of a particular substance passing through an enclosed space like a pipe or tube. But what do you need to do this for ?

Well, it’s basically an analysis device. It is used to check whether the machine is working correctly or is running efficiently, even if this machine is the human body. This article will cover the basic flowmeter types and show how they are used.

Peak flowmeters measure the flow of air running through a tube or pipe. These types of flow meters are often used to assess the fitness of a person. They can determine the lung capacity of an individual when he/she blows through the meter. Measuring the lung capacity of an individual tells a fitness instructor how capable they are and what level of exercise they should be set.

with this said, you will find that peak flowmeters are generally used to diagnose asthma. Once the condition is diagnosed, the meter is also used to manage it.

A peak flow meter works on the principal of displacement as a correlation of flow rate. Within the peak flow tube is a float. This is moved by the force of the air flowing past it. This movement is measured and gives an indication of the flow rate of the substance passing through the tube.

In industry there are many applications for flowmeters. For instance, water management is an obvious use. A meter may also be used to test various components of an HVAC system, in the factory or once installed. A flowmeter is also used in many factories, particularly food processing plants that require accurate measures of substances to come together to make the perfect recipe.

For instance, the production of many processed foods is largely automated. There may be a human operator that needs tools like a flowmeter to check that the right amounts of various ingredients are going into the machine. If the wrong quantities are used the food does not taste right or may have to be recalled.

In these industries you will find all types of flowmeters. I will list a few of them here and how they work. The most popular types are the ultrasonic and thermal dispersion flowmeters. They can measure the flow rates of liquids, gases and liquids with stuff in it.

The ultrasonic flow meter uses the physics of waves to correlate the flow rate of a particular substance that the wave is passing through.

The Doppler shift flow meter also uses wave dynamics to determine the flow rate of a particular substance. This is particularly useful for water that has debris or matter in it and is used in water management.

Thermal dispersion uses the way heat disperses from a fixed point to correlate the flow rate of the substances passing that fixed point. The change is the heat is directly proportional to the flow rate of the gas or liquid passing it.

There are various other types of flowmeter, including the turbine, wheel and magnetic flowmeters, They are mainly used in industry and determine the flow of a material and if the machine is working correctly. For instance, in a machine that is powered hydraulically, a sudden lose in pressure will indicate that there is a problem. a flowmeter can help to determine where the problem is.

Medical billers and medical billing services are the financial backbone of a medical practice. Practices that do not have the right medical billing expertise in their corner can easily lose more than 20 percent of their practice’s potential revenue.

Outsourcing medical billing is growing in popularity as a method for addressing this remarkable loss of practice income. The range of outsourcing options runs from exceedingly large organizations to individual freelancers working from home to provide medical billing services.

Although the complexity of basic medical billing is quite high, it pales in comparison to the complications that come to play for cardiology billing. Successful navigation of the payers’ policies and procedures for paying surgery claims requires specialized knowledge that comes from experience with billing for cardiologists.

The choice of an experience billing provider has become all the more important for cardiologists as they watch their cost rocket upwards. With their margins shrinking they must be confident that their medical billing service is collecting every dollar the cardiologist is owed. Selecting the proper medical billing service is made all the more difficult by the fact that many companies claiming to be experts in billing for cardiovascular practices actually do not do the billing themselves, but outsource the work to other vendors that are based in India or work from their homes.

Deep familiarity and comfort with cardiology procedures and terminology does not come from serving one or two cardiologists. Cardiac billing success requires both broad and deep expertise in order to collect all of the money owed the cardiologist and successfully appeal claims which have been denied or answer questions the payers may have about a claim.

A typical shortcoming with medical billing services that do not specialize in cardiology billing is the inability to properly track and pursue insurance underpayments. These underpayments cost most cardiologists about 10% of their potential income. If a medical billing company does not understand the multi procedure rules and have a system that can track underpayments (and does not flag every payment on a second procedure as underpaid), they will find it difficult to capture this lost revenue is a systematic manner.

The cardiology-driven difficulties of medical billing encompass patient billing also. A cardiologist’s patient balance process is more challenging because most of the balances are quite sizeable. Coupling this with the difficulties of explaining to a patient their complicated Explanation Of Benefits and the cardiovascular terminology on their bills drives the need for patient collection specialists that have a strong expertise in cardiac billing. If patients are not handles with care then cardiologists will see their patient collections fall and their patient complains rise - not a good combination.

The safest way for a cardiologist to navigate the medical billing land mines outlined in this article is to travel the medical billing battlefield with a surgical billing service that has deep and proven expertise in traversing the cardio billing hazards. Family doctors should not be performing open heart surgery and generalist medical billing companies should not be providing medical billing services to cardiologists.
