Important Ways to Save Money for Your Child’s College Education
Posted by: Gary Antosh in Education, tags: EducationAs college costs increase, it can be intimidating to find ways to save up for your child’s education. Many parents know that they need to start saving money early, but they might not know where to start or how to start. Children are not cheap. One of the most expensive parts of raising a child is the college education.
Increasing College Costs
Although inflation in the United States has stayed relatively low, the inflation rate for college has more than doubled. Inflation for college costs averages between 3 and 7 percent each year, depending on the type of college or university.
The estimated four-year total (including tuition, room, and board) for a public university will be close to $85,000 by the year 2011, according to www.collegeboard.com. By 2016, the website estimates, the cost will be close to $115,000. The cost for a private education will be even higher.
What Parents Must Understand
There are two key things that parents must understand when saving for college educations.
1. Inform your children that paying for college is a joint responsibility. You should tell them early on how much you are able to contribute, and how much they should be prepared to contribute for their educations.
Although it would be wonderful if they can find a college that costs less or equal to what you are able to contribute, your children should be aware that they may need to take out scholarships and loans to fund the rest of their education. Your children should be prepared to take summer jobs and look for grants.
2. Get started early. Let compounding interest work for you by building principle early and let the interest accumulate. You should continue to contribute to the savings if possible, but starting early will give you a good head start.
Funding Your Student’s Education
Don’t expect to be able to rely on scholarships and grants to pay for your children’s educational loans. You will need to save some money to help pay for your child’s college education or consolidate with consolidation loans.
As you begin the process of saving for college, you need to first decide what kinds of accounts you would like to use for saving the money. There are various options available to parents and relatives.
Uniform Gift to Minors account: This account puts the savings in your child’s name. You, the parent, have no ownership rights to the account but will control the account until your child comes of age. This means that you will control the account until your child usually turns either 18 or 21, depending on your state.
Coverdell Education Savings Account (CSEA): Parents who qualify for this account - those families with gross income below $190,000 - are allowed to contribute up to $2,000 per child per year. The contribution isn’t tax deductible but the earnings are tax deferred.
State-Sponsored Prepaid tuition Plan: These plans promise that your investment in the plan will cover tuition at any public school in your state. It will not matter what the tuition is for the school when your child enrolls; the price is locked in when you make your investment.
State-Sponsored College Savings Plans: Individual states have these plans, but do not require the parent or student to be a resident of the state or attend college in the state. You can find more information about the 529 plans at www.collegesavings.org
Traditional Methods: You can save for your child’s education in a variety of accounts. These accounts can include basic savings accounts, investment opportunities, and annuities.
Come Online And Re-educate Yourself About Traffic Rules!
Posted by: Dane Masters in Education, tags: EducationMy thirty-one years of life have yielded only three traffic violations! Why so few? Well, I was taught at home that I should respect everything on four wheels. And this was hammered home to me right from when I was a kid. Plus, I attended a driver education program at a high school. The people conducting the program believed that residents in places where winter conditions could be harsh should know how to handle their cars on snow or sleet or ice. As a result, I grew up into a great driver, always mentally alert and prepared for everything. Yes, like all boys, I loved speed too! Going back to the past, my first ticket resulted from speeding to outrun a curfew at the age of 16. The 1980s saw me getting a ticket for not having a seat belt. The policeman hauled me up for not having a headlamp, and fined me for this too! The third time was when I ran a red light because I wanted to reach home (one and a half hours away from college) as soon as possible. I had stayed up the whole night!
After so many years, I was pulled up for speeding last week. The town was new–I had recently moved here. My speed was 44 only, but it was considered as speeding. Actually the speed signs posted here and there were quite confusing–one saying 25 and the other, 35. And both put up in the same place, to beat it!
Letting me off with a simple warning and a kind smile, the officer asked me to register for traffic school online. He had found out that I had received a traffic ticket about thirty years ago and felt that a re-education would do no harm!
True, I had heard people discussing this latest education class being conducted on the Net, but had not bothered much about it. They had been saying that if one could avoid extra points being added to one’s driver record, the increasing insurance rates would not affect one. Earlier, one had to pay about $107 for a red light violation; now the price had gone up to $400! So, traffic school online could keep you from committing traffic blunders and save your money.
I have started the research, and found that, logically, one should use an accredited traffic school online-one which is legitimate and will issue you the documentation you need to prove to the courts you have paid your penance. I have also found that traffic school online can be manageable, allowing you to study at your own pace and during the hours you are available; that traffic school online is cheap; and that traffic school online, if you search long enough, will appeal to your particular learning style-giving you games if you are a doer, text only if you prefer verbal instruction, and cartoons and short films if you are more of a visual learner.
I am hoping to complete my traffic school online in the next few days, and will either go with comedy or cartoons and games. They look promising and they hopefully will not humiliate me too much with road rules I learned 31 years ago and ace on every DMV test, etc., though once every decade “forget”. What a reminder.
Six Tips to Protect College Students from Identity Theft
Posted by: Daniel Z. Kane in Education, tags: EducationIt should really be no surprise that since 2005, more than a third of the victims of identity theft in the United States are college students. That’s because students rarely take precautions to protect themselves agains identity theft, because lots of people have potential access to their personal information, and because they are the recipients of a ton of credit card and other commercial junk mailings.
Todd Davis, the CEO of LifeLock, the nation’s first identity theft prevention service for consumers, offered us these tips for parents and college-bound students to help protect them from becoming victims of identity thieves.
1. Buy and use a shredder. Never throw away anything that has your name, address, or other indentifying information without shredding it first.
2. College students generally share housing and live in close proximity to lots of other students. As a result, many people are in and out of their living areas, including people they may not know well. Therefore, to protect against identity theft, students should not leave identifying documents where they can be easily found, and should password protect important information on their computers.
3. Students should request and review their credit reports each and every year. They can get one report a year at no cost, and identify any existing or potential credit-related problems they may have.
4. Because so many social security numbers and personal files are lost to indentity thieves, students should take steps, in advance, to protect themselves if their confidential information is breached by identity thieves.
5. Opt out of all junk mail, as soon as possible. Identity thieves can steal credit card offers from your mailbox or garbage (if you fail to shred), fill in the applications with your name and their address, and charge thousands of dollars of goods and services to you. It happens every day.
6. Place fraud alerts…they’re free…on your personal information. Just contact the 3 major credit bureaus and renew every three months to assure that credit agencies will contact you before opening a new account in your name or changing information…like an address… in a current account. Or, you can hire a credit protection agency, some of which offer monetary guarantees against identity theft, to request and maintain fraud alerts for you.
Taking a bit of time and exercising some caution to prevent identity theft is well worth the effort. Protect yourself by being cautious, aware, and alert.
Airline Reservations Make Your Vacation Great
Posted by: Trip Wend in Education, tags: EducationDisney World is on of the premiere vacation destinations in the United States. The Disney company has made its interconnected themes parks, hotels and restaurants into a true World that you donat ever have to leave to have a good time.
When planning your vacation at the World, you want to maximize your time in the parks. There is so much to see and do that every minute counts. Getting the right airline reservations can add almost an entire day to your vacation.
Booking a dependable airline will be the start to a fantastic vacation. You do not want delays, bad customer service, or a horrible experience before you even reach your destination. You want a great experience at the airport and in the air which will make for a relaxing start to your vacation.
Searching online, at sites like Priceline, can help you find the exact right airline reservation for you. Ideally, you want a flight that gets you into Florida early in the morning. This way you have most of your arrival day to explore the parks. Be sure to make dining reservations for that night, so that you can have a nice relaxed meal.
Your return flight is just as important if not more important that the arrival flight. The best way to maximize your time in Orlando is to leave at a late hour. In fact you could even eat dinner before you fly home. You could also book a reservation for breakfast on your last day as a final goodbye.
It is important to look into the details of each theme park, restaurant, and the entertainment because you need to have a good idea of what you want to do when you get to Disney World. There is so much to see it will be likely that you wonat have enough time to see everything.
Although the rides are fun, they often come with ridiculously long lines. Use the FastPass ticketing for rides and donat waste time waiting in line. You could be spending that time shopping, seeing a parade, or even eating at a nice restaurant. When you do buy a souvenir, donat be afraid to ask for Disneyas shipping procedures because they are very beneficial.
In order to have a great stay at your destination, it is ideal to have the perfect airfare reserved. The right arrival and departure times can increase the amount of time you get to spend in the parks. Remember to look at price as well as dependability within the airline. All of this put together will make for one unforgettable Walt Disney vacation.
Six Things You Need to Know about Ltci and Maximum Policy Value
Posted by: Terry Stanfield in Education, tags: EducationWhen you get a long term care insurance quote you need to consider the maximum policy value associated with this. Many people don’t understand this type of policy nor do they think they need it.
1. The maximum policy value of a long term care insurance policy is the amount of money you put into the policy. This policy is considered to be a pool of money you put together into a type of savings account that is later used for your long term health care later in life when you really need it.
2. The value of your policy will differ depending on how many days a week you need long term care. If you only need long term care for two days a week rather than seven days a week you will have more money to spend in the long term.
3. A long term care insurance policy can be shared between you and your spouse. As you pay into the policy the amount of money will build up into an account. Eventually, if you or your spouse need money for care you will be able to use this policy. One of you may not need care and the other one of you may.
4. When you choose the automatic inflation method you gain interest on your policy and the long term care insurance cost may increase over time also. You should be shown how the price may change or increase over time. The good news is that the coverage will increase because the amount of money you have in your account will grow.
5. Should you never need to use your long term health care policy it can be cashed out. You do not lose this money if you die from something that hits you right away.
6. Long term health coverage is not a life insurance policy. Many people are confused about this type of policy and they don’t understand. This is a very beneficial policy that will help take care of your needs should you need a home nurse or need to be put into a nursing home.
When you get a long term care insurance quote it is important to understand what the maximum value of the policy is. This is not like a life insurance policy that is worth a million dollars if you die. This is like a savings account that gains money as you put your own money into it. When you eventually need long term health care then you will begin to use your policy.

Would I profit if he works for me can he contribute to the development of the company?
Tactic 4: Even if you are shy, don’t let it show. Introduce yourself to everyone that you come in contact with. Smile, shake hands, and say, “Hi, I’m blank. Working At Home-Some Tips For You To Consider
Posted by: Graham Williams in Career, tags: CareerWhen the bulk of individuals make the decision to work at home, all they think about is how simple and convenient it is going to be, getting unhurried out of bed and strolling up to their computer and not even having to wearing a suit. They think that they will never have to miss any of their popular telly shows during the day. Kids And Dawdling

Posted by: James Cavalier in Education, tags: EducationPeople who have begun their career as educators and have stayed in the profession for a long time, end up being bewildered by all the rapid changes taking place in this field today, what with the great advancement in technology! As a matter of fact, many of them consider themselves outdated for the modern era. But it is vital that these teachers who are capable of influencing so many young minds are provided with all sorts of resources to aid them in their teaching. It is their love for the profession and their affection for their students which keeps them in this field; so they deserve the best teaching aids.
The teaching profession has changed a great deal over the past fifteen years. Fortunately, there are teacher resources available to help educators keep up with the changes. Although many teachers still rely on textbooks and lectures in their lesson plans, researchers have found that some students do not benefit from this traditional approach. Professionals have developed many teacher resources to address the diverse students in today’s classroom.
According to Gardner, who has written “Eight Intelligences”, eight types of learning styles exist today. The first style described is “auditory learner” This sort of students are dependent on their “ears” for their learning and retention of what they have learned. They benefit through their keen hearing–speeches and lectures are their best sources of information.
Pictures speak louder than mere words. This holds true for “visual learners”. Charts and diagrams, even just a single picture–form the basis of their learning abilities. The educator who explains ideas and concepts via visual pictures has definitely gained the attention of these type of learners.
Now all teachers may not feel comfortable with “visual learners”. It is here that modern resources come to their aid. Any number of teaching aids are available for the teaching professional–graphs, visually-based worksheets, charts and power point presentations.
Other students learn by doing. The action of completing a task helps these kinesthetic learners retain information. These students are usually methodical and enjoy activities like following recipes or doing science experiments. The teacher resources available address kinesthetic learners through engaging activities.
The teacher resources also help some educators who are required to update their training each year. Laws like Act 48 in Pennsylvania require educators to keep up-to-date on the latest advances in their subjects. This requirement involves attending classes or seminars that provide credits. The teaching professionals are required to earn a certain number of credits each year. There are teacher resources available that allow educators to earn credits from home in their free time.
The teaching profession is a challenging but rewarding field for anyone who loves learning. Sometimes the job requires the educators to learn as they teach. Any teacher will say that the passion for teaching is directly linked to the passion of learning. Some of the greatest lessons are delivered by the students.
