A new gaming laptop could make an incredible gift for the gamer in your life. If you aren’t familiar with the specifications and statistics, it can get a bit confusing. There is a big difference between prices as well as capabilities, but here are a few of the most popular. To begin, Alienware’s new M17x high-performance laptop upholds the company’s reputation for innovation. Running Windows Vista operating system, the M17x runs a 2. 53 GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad processor.
At first, this may seem like an overwhelming amount of power, but with the quick pace of advancement in technology these days, it won’t seem so overwhelming within the year.
The two 500 GB hard drives and the 8 GB of RAM make the 1920 X 1200 screen resolution almost an unbelievable sight on the relatively large 17 inch screen. Keep in mind though, that this premium machine is a robust 12. 7 pounds and an equally bulky 4000 retail price.
If you are looking for something a little more affordable, perhaps you should consider their M15x model. With a slightly slower 2 GHz Intel Core i7-920XM it can still fully optimize its DVDr/BD-ROM combo drive for perfect high definition movies.
A close look at its specs and it is easy to see where this significant price change comes from. The slower 2 GHz Intel Core i7-920XM process can still take full advantage of the DVDr/BD-ROM combo drive for all of your high-definition viewing needs.
This unit runs Windows 7 Ultimate operating system so you can be sure to have optimal performance both on and off the web, no matter what applications you are using. The 15 inch LCD screen is slightly smaller than Alienware’s other entry on this list but at full HD 1920 X 1080 native resolution, you might not even notice. At 9 pounds it is also substantially lighter in weight.
The Sony Vaio NW180J/S rounds out our list as the most affordable and most accessible laptop. At $1200 it is easily the most cost efficient, and with a still high-quality 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, you might not realize that it runs at half the speed of the more costly models.
The moderate 15. 5 inch display is a slightly larger one for today’s gaming laptop specifications, and is perfect for the included Blu-Ray playback capability.

We all know the sound, when the computer reads the hard drive every morning on startup and we have to wait several minutes until it’s ready for our input. It’s not only the annoying sound of the magnetic head reading data which stresses our nerves. It’s simply the couple of minutes we are forced to wait until we can start working which is frustrating. But there’s a new technology which becomes more and more attractive and which promises a good solution to this daily situation: Solid State Drives (SSDs).
Yes – SSDs are much faster at reading data and the daily boot process becomes a pleasure with a SSD. As SSDs doesn’t have a spinning plate inside, their totally soundless. A computer without the innervating sound of the running hard drive? Yes – Now it’s possible! But SSDs have cons, too. The writing process is much slower than on regular hard drives. This means, that the boot process, which is mostly a reading process will be finished much faster, but when you’re doing write extensive tasks your work progress will become much slower. If you’re still fine with this, here’s what you need to do, when switching to a SSD.
The first thing to do is to identify your hard drive controller. You can do this by calling the systems device manager. What you need to benefit from a fast SSD is a Serial ATA interface. If your computer has an older interface like IDE or a parallel one it’s not worth to switch. The controller will become the bottleneck.
The next thing is to get the drive size. Desktop computer usually have a 3.5″ drive, notebooks a 2.5″ or 1.8″ drive build in. The change itself is simple. Just connect the new SSD as you would connect a regular hard drive. After installation you may need to go into your BIOS and run the hardware identification.
Regular hard drives are still much cheaper than SSDs. You get bigger ones for less money. So sit down and think a minute if the benefits of fast reading and lower battery usage overcome the cons of a high initial price and lower write rates.

Those consumers that play video games on the computer know the effects when the graphics cards that help with the visual aspect need to be upgraded from time to time. Older models of computers do not run games and movies that are newer. Many of the games have graphics that are more advanced that what the graphics card inside the computer is programmed to run.

As technology continues to advance, the need for a new graphics card will continue to be an issue. The more advanced games and videos become, the higher quality graphics you will need on your computer. If one thing is certain, it is the fact that technology is growing more now than ever. There are options out there for 3D games as well as 2D games. There are some that are available in high definition as well.
Many computer manufacturers will custom make a desktop computer or laptop computer to cater to gamers. This equipment comes with the maximum graphic and visual capabilities possible. If you’re a business owner in the modern era, you need to be on the lookout for ways to increase productivity and decrease your overall costs. One of the tools many business owners are using is a good VPN.
A Virtual Private Network, or VPN, allows users to access the company files and programs they need through a simple Internet connection. This can eliminate many of the costs within a company because the network will use hardware and software components to streamline the company based on its individual needs.
An important type of hardware is the concentrator. The units utilize the latest in encryption security methods. This hardware can also handle increased traffic and users. The information travels through a private path or tunnel across the Internet. The tunnel protects the information with encryption. This coding process means the company data is only readable by intended users.
The software side of the equations is referred to as the client. This software needs to be installed on the user’s computer and it will control various aspects of the system. But, since not everyone will have to have access to all parts of the network, you will then have to make some decisions about how the network will be run so that information will be appropriately filtered.
A VPN is adaptable, which means it can be used in any size business. The ability to access company information from remote locations is an important tool for any size business. This can reduce travel expenses. Company meetings can be conducted on the phone, and participants can view information on their computer screen. They can get a clarification on issues on a more immediate basis and contribute to problem solving. Business travel costs are not only important in terms of monetary expenses but in lost time and fatigue as well. People traveling across the country to attend meetings will lose valuable time and may not be as productive because they are tired.
Even if your company only has a few employees, these networks can be invaluable. In these settings, many employees have a wide range of responsibilities, and these networks will allow them to do their work from any location. Customers expect fast response times in our modern, technological world, and this will allow any employee to provide it, whether it is to set up a drop-ship order, or just to show a customer their purchase history while you’re still on-site.
A VPN is a powerful tool that can help businesses grow. This allows a company to work with sales people or contractors from all over the country. It will also let them deliver the personalized approach that customers expect. Companies will be able to increase their revenue without building up extra costs.
Modern companies should always be looking out for more efficient and more secure ways to share information. This will save them time and money, and probably a few headaches down the road. Do your research and find the VPN that will fit your needs.
Internet security is becoming more important due to the large number of threats. A VPN (or Virtual Private Network) can be a great way to distribute files online over a private connection. Mitch Stenson is an experienced writer who can help you minimize risk by using anonymous surfing with a VPN. Find more articles for this and other related topics by Mr. Stenson on the internet.

Wii console is known to be one of the best multimedia consoles in the world; the only thing is that it doesn’t have the ability to play DVD on Wii. But after all these years, some smart people have conceptualized a software that enables you to watch your favourite DVD movies, even television shows right on your Wii. This new innovation has made your Wii console even more entertaining because of the added feature on it. This software called Homebrew Installer is a downloadable product that makes playing DVD on Wii definitely possible.
In most cases, when you put some additional features on your console you will need a mod chip or hardware in order to get it working, however, the downside of this is that the mod chip voided any warranty that may have been still valid. Fortunately, the Homebrew Installer software has been developed in order to solve the problem. This time, you don’t need a mod chip or hardware anymore and this would mean that your warranty will absolutely remain intact.
The steps on how to play DVD on Wii is not a complicated task to perform. The first step that you should do is to install the homebrew channel on your Wii and afterwards install a small application called Mplayer which makes your Wii perform like a normal DVD player. The final step would be to install a Dvdx loader program which allows the playback of DVD. The entire process is quite straightforward, it will only take a few minutes and you will be able to play DVD on your wii.
The software is also capable of playing your own Homebrew games including those that work on the N64, even the typical games. If you are capable of writing your own programs to run on your Wii you may do it as well. You just have to download Wii Homebrew from the Internet for a reasonable price. Homebrew installer software is certainly a legal online business which you can benefit from. It is guaranteed that there won’t be any complications to occur in the future.
Along with the advantage of being able to watch DVD movies on your wii, the software also has some applications that enable anyone to play classic games from retro consoles like the SNES, SEGA Genesis and many more. Also, the homebrew installer allows you to backup or copy your games onto another disc for the major purpose of keeping your original discs from being ruined. This time, you will be able to play region locked games which will totally let you play imported games.
This Homebrew Installer product is simply amazing. It is quite easy to avail. All you have to do is download it from the Internet and follow the easy instructions that they provide. It does not consume a lot of your time; the process is quick to get the Homebrew application running on your unlocked Wii. You no longer buy expensive games these days because all of the games that you want can be played right on your Wii with the aid of the Homebrew software.

You may want to know how VoIP works. After all, this could be the future of audio communications. Now, VoIP could be used instead of phone lines. So how does this technology work? How can you benefit from it?
Advanced Technology – The first step to understanding VoIP is to understand present technology. Our phone lines make use of what is known as circuit switching. Your call is passed through a series of switches until it reaches your recipient and the circuit is opened. In the span of time that you are on the line, the circuit remains open even at times when there is dead air. Even if you are just listening or not talking, the dedicated line is open. Since you are using this particular line, you have to pay for the number of minutes that you have been on it. The dead air is therefore considered a waste that you have to pay for.
VoIP Functions – VoIP functions differently. There is no circuit switching and no dedicated line. What is present is packet switching. With packet switching, your analog audio data is converted to digital packets. These packets have their own addresses so they know where they have to go. These packets then proceed to the nearest router to the next until it reaches the recipient. Once the recipient gets the packets, it is converted back to audio form.
A World of Difference – There is a big difference about how VoIP works. There is obviously no dedicated line. The packets also take different routes depending in which is most accessible. Other routes remain open for the exit or entry of other data packets. There is thus no need to pay for the dead air in which no data is sent. The lack of a dedicated line is what makes VoIP primarily cheaper than traditional phone lines.
Connection and Accessibility – Aside from the lesser cost of VoIP, its accessibility is also a major attraction. You can use VoIP whenever and wherever there is internet connection. In our world today, the internet is accessible in almost any place where people are expected to use them. This piece of technology is therefore a big bonus for people who need to travel a lot. You no longer have to spend for long distance calls that can take a big chunk off your budget. VoIP offers the chance to save a lot on the cots of calls.
The Downside – The problem with VoIP though is that it still has a lot of kinks to be worked out. There are still many services that rely on the typical audio communications set-up. One important service for example is 911. When a 911 call is received, there is instant recognition of a caller’s exact location. This is still something that isn’t possible through VoIP. The packets that are sent simply have IP addresses on them but no physical addresses.
Dependence on Technology – Aside from this downside, VoIP is also prone to the weaknesses of computer technology. Your computer could crash or you could lose packets in the process of transmission. This is a big problem if you are transmitting very important information. Your packet data could also fall victim to viruses and hackers.
On the whole, there are more benefits to be gained by how VoIP works though compared to its disadvantages. There is still a need however, to further improve the technology to ensure that users are satisfied and kept safe.

If you spend any amount of time on the internet, I’m sure you’re noticing that site flipping is quickly becoming all the rage. Simply stated, website flipping is similar to real estate flipping in that someone buys a piece of property, adds some value to it and the quickly sells it for a profit. Whether you’re the buyer or the seller in the transaction, it all comes down to the almighty dollar and ROI, return on investment.
If you’ve done any kind of site flipping, or even if you’ve just thought about it, then you’ve probably heard about a site called Flippa. They are an online auction service, similar to eBay, for internet properties. They handle listings for blogs and websites, or even just domain names. You go through a simple sign up procedure and then you can flip anything you want. Blogs, websites, domain names, membership sites, eBooks, you name it, you can flip it there.
They have an auction system similar to eBay’s. You pay a listing fee, you can set a specific amount of time you want your listing to run and you can set minimum bids and reserve limits. They even have a feedback system where sellers and buyers can rate their experiences with each other. But that’s pretty much where the similarity ends.
For one thing, Flippa has what they refer to as a verification process in place that my dog could pass. when you register with them, their method of determining that you are who you say you are is to send a code number to your telephone. You then enter that code number into their system and they say, Hey, yeah, it really IS Mickey Mouse. Go ahead, give him an account. Puh-leeze! The only other verification they do during the entire transaction process, is to have you place a file onto the root of the site you’re selling so they know you have access to the database. Now this doesn’t seem all that secure to me, but, hey, I’m not a programmer, so I’ll let this one slide.
This is the point where Flippa and eBay part ways and conducting a transaction on Flippa now becomes a Free For All. Carpetbagging sellers will tell you their site has thousands of visitors a day, 10,000 backlinks and 100 articles floating around cyberspace. A quick check on the domain name will show you that they had the site less than 24 hours! I kid you not! This happened to me! I sold a site at this online auction and stated in my listing that it was a brand new site with no traffic and no sales. Not 24 hours later, the buyer re-listed the site, using my own listing content, copied and pasted word for word, and stated that he had $50 dollars in sales a day and had already established back links with the 100 articles he had published! Where were the Monitors during all this? And this is just one example of the plagiarism and slight of hand that occurs on Flippa on a daily basis.
I don’t even like to think about some of the comments I’ve seen on the listings at this auction site. Scammers like to watch for sites that are getting bids. Then they swoop in like vultures and start tearing you to pieces in the comments. Sure, you can always delete those comments. But they has chosen to show when you delete them. And if you do, you run the risk of looking like you have something to hide. And their attempt to copy eBay’s feedback system is just…well…FAIL! Sellers are motivated to leave good feedback for the buyers in the hopes that the buyers will return the favor. Buyers have no motivation to leave feedback. Case closed.
Their method of ending an auction is also questionable. You never really know when the auction is going to end. If you’re a seller, you have to sit for hours, watching to see if someone bids, because all bids require the acceptance of the seller. But if you’re a buyer, this system is even more frustrating. If you wait until the very last minute to place what you think is going to be the winning bid, they add 4 more hours onto the auction!
Flippa states on their website that they processed sales totaling more than $100,000 within the last seven daysYou would think that a site processing that many transactions would have a little more control over the actual exchange of funds and property. Buyers and sellers are left to their own devices to connect and then exchange money and property. They, at this point, are totally out of the picture. They are not concerned. They already got your money when you first listed the site for sale. Filing a dispute with them at this stage of the game very rarely even gets you a response.
In my opinion, there should be a better way of handling these on line virtual real estate transactions. Site flipping is becoming too popular for shoddy sites like this to continue taking our money and running. Ther are other auction sites available, but they’re even worse than Flippa. But I’ve noticed lately that there are an awful lot of sites listed with not so many bids. A lot of sites aren’t getting any bids at all. Are the buyers getting smarter? Or is it the sellers who are getting smarter? I think it’s the QUALITY sellers, who have had enough of the shoddy business practices at Flippa, finding better ways to conduct their transactions, and they’re taking their QUALITY buyers with them. I think Flippa better either step up or step out!

When doing a bit of research, you will be astonished to find that the first video game was developed in the early 1950’s. A.S Dougal did a project for his PhD degree wherefrom a very basic version of Tic-Tac-Toe resulted. The first commercial home game console was only released two decades later, known as the Odyssey, which was designed by Ralph Baer and released by Magnavox. Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney produced the first arcade game in 1971 and a year later the home game console was released. Computer Space – the game that Bushnell created – was based on and inspired by Nolan’s Spacewar game. The year after that, Nolan and Al Alcorn released a new arcade game which was their big hit. Pong! was a favorite among gamers and everyone wanted to master it!. In 1975, Atari, Bushnell and Dabney’s new company released a home video game version of Pong!
Now, more than three decades later computer gaming has become a billion dollar industry. Pong! although still looked at in nostalgic remembrance, is only but a distant memory. From these humble beginnings a gargantuan industry has developed. Today, true gamers realize that there are many factors involved in choosing the best notebook out of all the gaming laptops and PCs on the market. If mobility is a great need, a laptop or notebook is the only option. However, as we all know there are thousands of different laptops, with unmentionable amounts of specifications available on the market at present. When looking to buy gaming laptops, the following factors should be taken into consideration:
Processor The most important component of your laptop and the part that will need the most consideration is definitely the CPU. For serious gaming enthusiasts, anything below a 2 GHz processing speed will not be suitable as most of the games that have been made available within the past year need at least a 1.6 GHz processor for optimum effect.
Memory After the Processor (CPU), the memory space is the most important aspect to consider. A low memory will slow down your computer’s processing speed tremendously which will result in a lot of frustration. Newer games need a lot of memory space and thus we recommend a RAM memory of no less than 1GB – 2GB is the better option. When looking at memory speed, do not settle for anything less than 667Mhz.
Graphics Whether you are playing strategy games, war games or racing games, you need a great graphics card to truly appreciate the experience. You should definitely opt for the latest graphics processor with dedicated memory. Definitely do not settle for a graphics card with less than 512MB dedicated memory. Though, even that has become quite a low amount of dedicated memory.
Hard Drive With how fast technology changes and improves, you will find that what was sufficient a few years ago is less than acceptable today. A 100GB hard drive is nowadays laughable to most serious gamers and 500GB is even less than sufficient. A saving grace is that portable hard drives of 1GB up to and exceeding 1TB is available and you just need to hook it up to your computer to add to your hard drive space.
Optical Drive Depending on your need, it will be best to look for a multiformat (DVDRW) DVD burner. You don’t need to worry too much about the drive’s write speed, and could possibly save a few dollars buy going for the slower but cheaper option here.
Display A screen size of less than 19 inches is usually not acceptable for any serious gamer. Maximum resolution for the screen size of your choice is needed as this will enhance your viewing pleasure when you watch movies on DVD’s or blu-ray discs. This should also improve the graphics output of your games.
Many decisions need to be taken into consideration before buying a gaming laptop. Consult with a professional if you are new to gaming – do not attempt to take on this challenge by yourself. The environment of computer selling is a competitive one and you should not settle for the first choice but rather shop around to find the BEST choice!!

With such a large selection of IT and computer courses available on the market today, it’s a good idea to look for a training company who can help you settle on a good match for you. Reputable organisations will discuss at length the different job roles that may be a match for you, before suggesting a training path that can take you where you want to go. You can choose from user skills courses, or more advanced IT professional certifications. Easy to follow courses will set you on the right track to achieve your goals.
By taking advantage of the latest training methods and abolishing out-dated approaches, there’s a new style of training provider offering a finer level of computer training and back-up for very competitive prices.
Ignore any salesman that pushes one particular program without an in-depth conversation so as to understand your abilities and level of experience. Make sure they can draw from a expansive array of training so they’re able to give you a program that suits you.. Quite often, the training inception point for someone experienced in some areas is often massively dissimilar to someone just starting out. It’s wise to consider a user-skills course first. This can often make your learning curve a bit more manageable.
Students often end up having issues because of a single courseware aspect which doesn’t even occur to them: The way the training is divided into chunks and couriered to your address. By and large, you’ll enrol on a course that takes between and 1 and 3 years and receive one element at a time until graduation. This may seem sensible until you think about these factors: What would happen if you didn’t finish all the exams at the required speed? Sometimes their preference of study order won’t fit you as well as some other order of studying might.
The ideal solution is to have all the training materials sent to you right at the start; the complete package! Thus avoiding any future problems that could impede your ability to finish.
Being at the forefront of progressive developments in new technology gives you the best job satisfaction ever. You’re involved with defining the world to come. We’re at the dawn of beginning to get a handle on what this change will mean to us. How we interact with the world will be significantly affected by technology and the web.
A average IT worker over this country as a whole is likely to receive much more than employees on a par outside of IT. Average wages are some of the best to be had nationwide. Demand for certified IT specialists is assured for the significant future, due to the continuous increase in this sector and the very large skills gap still present.
Usually, your everyday person doesn’t have a clue where to start with IT, let alone what sector they should be considering getting trained in. Because without any solid background in Information Technology, how could any of us be expected to understand what anyone doing a particular job actually does? To work through this, we need to discuss many unique issues:
* What hobbies you’re involved with in your spare-time – often these define what areas will satisfy you.
* What length of time can you allocate for the training process?
* Does salary have a higher place on your priority-list than anything else.
* Considering the huge variation that the IT industry encompasses, you’ll need to be able to understand how they differ.
* You’ll also need to think hard about what kind of effort and commitment you’ll put into gaining your certifications.
For the average person, sifting through so much data requires a good chat with an experienced pro who has direct industry experience. And we don’t just mean the accreditations – but the commercial requirements of the market as well.
Beware of putting too much emphasis, as many people do, on the accreditation program. Your training isn’t about getting a plaque on your wall; this is about employment. Stay focused on what it is you want to achieve. Never let yourself become one of those unfortunate students who choose a training program which looks like it could be fun – and end up with a certification for a job they hate.
Stay focused on where you want to get to, and create a learning-plan from that – don’t do it back-to-front. Stay on target – making sure you’re training for a career that’ll reward you for many long and fruitful years. It’s worth seeking help from a professional that knows the commercial realities of the market you’re considering, and who can give you ‘A typical day in the life of’ synopsis for that career-path. This really is very important as you’ll need to know if this change is right for you.
