The two phrases “budget conscious” and “custom cabinets” are rarely used in the same sentence. It’s definitely true that for many years custom cabinets were not affordable for those that dreamed of a custom kitchen but this is changing. The technology used to assist large cabinet manufacturers with improving efficiency and cost is now available to the local custom cabinet shop IF they have the money to invest. And one such cabinet shop has done this very thing.
I’m writing this article because I believe in the small business. I support entrepreneurs but more importantly those with such a unique skill set that when combined with technology can offer you some of the best custom cabinets of all time. How is this possible? A lot has to do with the machines behind the cabinets. No longer do men need to hold up a large 4 foot by 8 foot sheet of plywood in order to cut with a table saw and hold a straight line. Now, they can set it down on a robotic table and allow the computer program to cut the pieces out within 1/100th of an inch in accuracy. Not only is this accurate BUT cost effective for you.
Steve Oates, shop owner, told me recently, “I got a call from a women who wanted me to quote over the phone a price to compete with Home Depot. She was quoted about $6,700 just for a kitchen island with an artificial countertop. After I talked with her a bit I told her I was confident we could save her about $1,400 AND offer her a choice of 20 styles of granite included in the price.” She was shocked and I was too when he told me.
Local custom cabinet shop owner, Steve Oates, unfolded this recent example, “My phone rang last week and one struggling Mom called to obtain a verbal quote. I could tell she was anxious to obtain a quote fast so I asked a few questions. Reading from a recent quote from “Home Depo” she said, “can you beat $6,700?” In my mind I’m wondering what she asked for that drove the cost up a bit but after talking a few minutes I instantly knew the cause. She was trying to adjust a manufacturer’s standard cabinet to make it customized.” “I talked with her a few more minutes then shared that I felt we could save her about $1,400 and in addition include a granite top. I even gave her up to 20 granite types to choose from. Needless to say the client was very pleased and surprised.”
In closing Steve talked some more about the custom service included with his custom cabinets. He said, “I try to explain to all my clients wishing to purchase any custom cabinet project. I firmly believe the process is equally important to the product! Too many of my clients have told horror stories of contractors that are great at sales, horrible at delivery, and just ok with the end product. We wish to be fantastic to work with from the moment we enter the home until the last tool is removed and we work hard to that end. We are committed to creating such a pleasant experience that they can’t wait to tell their friends. In my mind, it’s even more important that their new kitchen becomes a center piece for gatherings as they share their home with others and create a sense of community.”

Be Smart when it comes to rug cleaning and the services that are provided by cleaning companies. In fact, there are several considerations that need to be taken into account, not least how dirty the carpet or rug is. It could look like it just hosted a Civil War battlefield recreation, to use a particularly harsh example. Actually, cleaning of a rug should be undertaken on a set schedule when possible.
Today’s cleaning services have improved much over the decades. There are several different kinds of cleaning techniques that are used, and there are a wide variety of services offered in addition to straightforward cleaning of a rug. This might also include stain removal (which is usually negotiated as part of the service) and re-colorization of bleached out or discolored areas on a carpet, for example.
Because of the way the Internet has moved into our lives, it has never been easier to go online, find a search engine and then go over all of the cleaning companies that may pop up. This is a vast improvement over the days when a telephone and a phone book were the only tools available. Online quotes can fall like rain in a short period of time, and that’s a good thing.
And it is always recommended, by the way, that a person needing rug cleaning try to get several quotes before engaging the services of any company. Keep in mind that some companies charge additional fees for longer haul or longer distance jobs. This can be a good reason to try to find a cleaning company within the local catchment area.
When it comes down to getting enough information to make an intelligent decision about cleaning companies and the services offered, spend some time checking out a company to see if it is skilled in certain cleaning techniques and other services. It should be evident fairly quickly whether company cleaners have an adequate carpet knowledge base and experience in techniques and cleaning services.
Some people have invested literally thousands of dollars on their carpets, and the fabrics and materials within that carpet might be delicate or might even be damaged by a certain kind of cleaning technique. Check beforehand to make sure that company operators are knowledgeable on specific cleaning techniques and other services such as stain removal and the like.
No shopper worth his or her salt today fails to do some research about the going rate for just about any home cleaning service. Taking the time to check what the price is for rug cleaning in the local area is very smart. Most companies are also very competitive and will offer promotions and discounts, so use the Internet to find them, along with checking on the company’s reputation.
There are a few things one needs to keep in mind when considering taking on rug cleaning services. Also, it is a smart shopper who learns a bit about how many rooms he or she will need cleaned or the total square footage that will be involved, in addition to stairs and other areas that usually cost additional money. In order to get the best price, make sure the cleaner knows all these factors ahead of time.
Colorado Springs Upholstery Cleaning is committed to providing top quality service.

Have you ever heard of indoor solar lighting? Most people don’t know that solar lights can actually be used indoors. Indoor solar lights are becoming more and more popular world wide despite the fact that many of us have never considered using them. If you’re looking for an outstanding way to save energy and money, it is a great way to get started.
Did you know that solar power use dates back to over 2,600 years ago? Even still, indoor solar lighting technology is fairly new. It is, however becoming more and more frequently used in the U.S. to bring light to small structures such as park restrooms, service sheds, utility structures and others. These are locations far from established grids where conventional power sources would be cumbersome and expensive to run. There are even some commercial buildings that have begun utilizing indoor solar lighting, and the trend is growing in popularity.
Most of the indoor solar lighting in industrial use today is a mixture of solar light tube and solar powered light technology. Combinations of solar powered lighting and light tube technology are being used in high security applications like prisons. Solar light tubes are perfectly suited for this application, due to their ability to transfer considerable amounts of light to the interior of the structure using a very small footprint. This “hybrid” lighting method of combining solar powered lights as a back up to these light tubes produces a solar lighting system that is extremely efficient and effective.
Indoor solar lighting can be used in many situations to illuminate your shed, garage, gazebo, and the inside your home. Of course there is no need for an electrical source which has many benefits in and of itself. Additionally, you will not need to replace light bulbs or worry about power outages, providing that you receive some direct sunlight during the day. Solar lights are very easy to install and are almost completely maintenance free.
Many of us have buildings like garages and sheds that are far away from an electrical source making it difficult and expensive to provide a source of power. Indoor solar lighting can easily solve that dilemma and is very cost effective. You can also use products like solar skylights and track lights in your home.
It is no wonder that that indoor solar lighting is becoming so popular, with all of the different options that are becoming available. Check out your local home improvement store and you will likely find plenty of styles of these eco-friendly lighting products. It is truly exciting to see how rapidly the science is developing with nanoparticle research and solar ink technology, making it cheaper and easier for everyone to go solar. The great thing about using indoor solar lights is that you get to save money and help the environment!

We are all so used to associating large wall clocks with the analog version. However, these days digital wall clocks are starting to make their marks everywhere you go.
When I returned to my high school this past summer, I was shocked to see that they all now had digital clocks instead of analog clocks. The slick look surprised me, but I must say I like it.
After seeing the digital clocks, I was surprised just how many are out there and available already. You can get one for any occasion, and they can multi-task as well if you need it to.
Digital wall clocks usually mean they are atomic clocks as well. Atomic clocks keep their time synced with the most accurate clock in the world, the NIST atomic clock.
The whole atomic clock deal might not mean much to you, but it comes in handy for those looking for a reliable and accurate clock every day.
Outdoor weather conditions can also be monitored with the atomic wall clocks as well. This will really help you pick out your clothing before leaving the house each day.
Along with outdoor weather, some will tell you the temperature inside your house, the phase of the moon and even give you a radio. These clocks come in all shapes and sizes as well.
These clocks do a lot of things, but fortunately they are also pretty cheap. A solid one can be bought for as little as 20 dollars, while a fancy one is a couple hundred at most.
Regardless of your decision, you will find all your options online. Go online and find the one that fits your style the best.

In the granite market that there is no governing body, all levels and professional charge an additional price that ultimately reflects in the final price of each granite sq foot. From the quarry to the supplier, in between is the fabricator. They all charge their individual prices based on the immediate want of the market.
Granite suppliers deal in the granite market based on tiers or groups of three or four. The first and high tier involves relatively high-priced commodities. The price of the granite stones are labelled on them based on a number of factors, such as: quantity of minerals in the slab; patterns, colour, veins and thickness of the stone; country it was sourced from. Some granite stones also exhibit dynamism in colour. All these go a long way to determine the final market price.
Characteristic hardness is exhibited by the lower tier and it is solely for the purpose of commercial sales, which will facilitate a relatively reduced price to the first and high tiers. However there are some stones that are cut thin for the aim of being much more affordable than the two earlier mentioned. Here the stones are hardly 2cm, rather than the usual 3cm. The handler is required to add plywood behind it so as to fortify the strength; nevertheless it should never be misconstrued that it will be weak to serve its purpose. Typically, suppliers will deal in this type for discount.

Time passes as surely as night follows day. Drains, like everything else, age over time and things can get worse. A drain is obviously designed to go underground, clearly not easy to see inside it, and the only way to really see what is actually going on inside is to use CCTV. Deterioration of the drain can come from lots of different sources. Ground movement, root intrusions and poor construction can cause massive problems
Clearly the fact that a drain runs underground means that you cannot see what is going on inside it. You really do need to know what is going on inside the drain or you could end up solving the wrong problem. Knowing as opposed to guessing means that you get the best possible chance of the best and cheapest solution to your drainage problem
CCTV is a way of solving this problem. CCTV or closed circuit television means that you can see inside the pipe and diagnose the exact problem. There are two types of CCTV system available, the crawler and the push rod systems. The physical and technical specifications and differences in these two systems should not bother you- just rest assured that they will find and solve the problems that you don’t yet know about
The crawler system is used for drainage pipes over 150mm in diameter. Smaller drainage systems (less than 150mm) are diagnosed using the push rod system. Full, detailed reports are then compiled to show exactly what is wrong with the drain so you can then decide what is the best method of solving the drainage problem
The problems to look out for can stem from collapsed pipes , sumps in the line to tree roots etc, all of which can cause blockages. All surveys are written up and assessed on site then burned onto DVD and handed over to the customer with recommendations to fix the problems. If you want a CD or .mp3 as well then that will not be a problem, most companies will not do this for you though- check them out thoroughly
If you are planning to build and extension to a property, CCTV can be used for a build over survey. Basically, this is a survey of the drainage condition underground so that you can see the condition before building over them. If you bury a problem, it will be much more expensive in the future should problems arise in the future

Like what one would expect from marble, they have a gleaming surface which can be polished to brilliance. Marble countertops are very attractive and also augment the exquisiteness of other furniture, by complementing them. It gives the room, in which it is kept, a major face lift which is imprinted on the minds if the eye ever meets it. They are used in the kitchen counters, bathrooms, Jacuzzis, bars and fireplace.
Marble is available in various shades or in rich tones of different colours like creamy, white, neutral which is almost transparent, yellow and even black. The designs of marble are strange as well as magnificent and it couples itself to the dcor of the room to bring out an exceptional radiance which can be termed heavenly. Though, before buy a marble, you must match its colour with the wall and floor of the room.
Marble comes as slabs of varying length, breadth, and thickness. Its lustrous quality is due to the fact that it is a crystallized limestone and can be polished to an extent that you can clearly see your image on it. By polishing it, you can renew its look to give more colour and glamour. Note that as much as you are itching to polish it (so as to give it more brilliance and make it stain resistance) kitchen countertops are not advisable to be subjected to polishing. This is because as calcium carbonate it is very susceptible to react to acids, bases and other chemical agents. If marble kitchen countertops are regularly subjected to polishing they will start to etch. Etching is seen as tiny dull areas and they become quite numerous on the marble surface. Marble counter tops in kitchen are also more susceptible to scratching in the kitchens (unlike granite kitchen countertops that has the strength to withstand any coarseness).
A marble countertop is the best to be installed in an avid bakers kitchen because it is the best to roll dough, and also pound it to softness. Though it may seem an expensive bakers tool, however it has other qualities that it will bestow upon the kitchen, whereby it will make time and money spent on it worth more than an ordinary bakers tool.
The ultimate good news is that with time marble countertops will imbibe the essential colour of your home by absorbing the normal stains of the household only to reflect more of your home in its quality and becomes a natural element of beauty.
At Granitetopia, you can now find marble and granite countertops for a fraction of the cost. Add a touch of style to your kitchen countertops, visit the site today!

As the pool of water collects around the drain, you get a sinking feeling in your stomach. You dread another costly visit from the plumber. However, clogged drains, while inconvenient and messy, are usually easy enough to correct on your own. Here are some tips that you can use when trying to solve various types of drain problems.
If you notice that only one fixture is backing up, be it the kitchen sink, bathroom tub or the toilet, its an indication that the clog is in the trap of that particular fixture only and you can very easily unclog it. And if water is backing up at more than one fixture, then there might be some problem in the main drain.
One solution to unclog a drain is to use chemicals. But you should be very careful while handling them as they can be very dangerous. Do read all the instructions before use. It is always advisable to wear rubber gloves for safety.
Also make sure that drain cleaner is safe for your septic system by reading the warnings on the back. Some cleaners contain chemicals that can disrupt the bacterial action of your septic system. After following the directions on the bottle, remember to run plenty of water to flush the chemicals out of your pipes.
There are plumbing tools available that can be used to unclog a drain like, a plunger. It can be used to remove the blockage if it is not too deep inside the drain. The following information can help using a plunger in an effective manner.
You first need to block all the holes and other drains by putting in some cloth or other stuff. Next put some water over the drain as it will help to push the clog out more quickly and the plunger would work more smoothly with it.
To make a plunger work in a better way, apply petroleum jelly to it’s rim. This helps in attracting material faster. Move the plunger downwards with force several times. Wait for A minute or two and see if the water flows down smoothly. If not, try for some more time. Once the drain is clear, pour plenty of hot water into it to clean it completely.
You can always use strainers for your kitchen and bathroom sinks to prevent the entry of materials like hair, soap, pins and other insoluble objects. This way you can prevent clogging up of your drains.

Roof is the most integral part of the house. It is one of the largest investment for any home owner. The look of the clay tile roof is timeless, but the roofs themselves are not. The roof is not the kind of thing which can be replaced frequently. So it should be installed properly so that it would last a minimum of fifteen years.
The type of roofing should be dependent on the nature of the weather and the place where you stay. Always ensure that the roofing suits the design of the house and also the weather. With clay tile roofing you do not require much maintenance as it lasts much longer than any other roofing type.
If there are many advantages of clay tile roofing, then there will be some drawbacks also. It is tough to install these tiles. Everyone cannot do this job, hence a professional roofer is required. This same problem has to be faced while doing it’s replacement.
This clay type roofing needs specific materials which are quite costly as compared to other roofing types. This type of roofing is suitable for the hot climate, where the roof is shielded with clay tiles that prevents the painful heat.
It is not really a tough task to repair the clay tile roof. But if you have some handy tools with you, you can try your hands on repairing it. The first job is to clean the fractured mortar with a cold chisel and hammer. Then replace the cap tiles in a proper manner. You have to be very careful to the synchronization of the tiles so that you can arrange them in the same order.
Next, wet thoroughly the tiles in water for few hours. Then combine the cement and sand in 1:3 ratio and mix them well with water to make a stiff mortar. With a small trowel spread it accordingly where the previous mortar was.
Then replace the tiles and clean up any mortar poking out with a trowel. If there is any major repairs then call a professional roofer to fix the problem.
This type of roofing is environment friendly and can be recycled easily.
