A wide range of cooking utensils and serving dishes can be used in Panasonic microwave ovens; the only requirement is that the material they are made of, permits microwaves to be transmitted through to the food.

Metal acts as a barrier to microwaves, so food in metal dishes will not cook. Metal dishes, metallic glazed dishes and dishes with metallic trims should not be used in a microwave oven. Metal objects can cause bending which will destroy the magnetron; so if by accident you have placed metal in the oven and you notice sparking, switch off immediately.

Most china and ceramics are convenient; you only need to do a fast test once to be sure. Put a half-filled glass of water in the dish. Microwave for 1 minute. The water should be much hotter than the edge of the dish. If the dish is hotter than the water, it will not be microwave proof for any length of time.

Most of manufacturers now create ranges of special microware, including trays, cake dishes and bun pans. A microwave browning fry pan is a very helpful accessory, as it seals, scorch and browns meat.
